A total of twenty-four (24) delegates have travelled to Lisbon, Portugal as pilgrims in the 2023 World Youth Day. The marque event is open to all young people and provides a unique opportunity to encounter the Pope in a rather festive context. Held every three (3) years, WYD offers a wonderful opportunity for young people to participate in activities which are centered on Jesus Christ. It is also an opportunity for pilgrims and their chaperones to personally experience “the universality of the Catholic Church, and to share with the whole world, the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church”.
WYD will see the participation of over one million delegates from (arch)dioceses around the World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and the sacraments. The Diocesan delegation is being chaperoned by Mrs. Morvette Thomas (Catechetical Director), Mrs. Noleen Azille (Diocesan Director of Pontifical Missions) and Fr. Jean Paul Sade (HFC) and other youth leaders representing the islands. Other members of the delegation include young adults from Anguilla (2), Antigua and Barbuda (8), British Virgin Islands (10), Montserrat (3) and St. Kitts and Nevis (1). Let us continue to pray for their safety while on pilgrimage and an overwhelming transformation as they encounter Christ in the various planed activities.
