His Excellency Archbishop Reverend Santiago de Wit Guzmán, Apostolic Nuncio to the Antilles Episcopal Conference, including the Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre, and Non-resident Ambassador of the Holy See to Antigua made his first official visit to St. John’s. During his November 13 – 17, 2024 visit, His Excellency de Wit Guzman will officially present his credentials to His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda at Government House on Friday 15th November.
Archbishop de Wit Guzmán’s itinerary will also see him paying courtesy calls on Honourable Gaston Browne, Prime Minister, the Honourable E. P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, Honourable L. Jamale Pringle, Leader of the Opposition, and Senator the Honourable Shawn Nicholas, Minority Leader in the Senate, as well as a call on Her Excellency Carmen Velásquez de Visbal, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Antigua and Barbuda and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
While in Antigua, His Excellency will also be given a tour of several historic sites including the world-renowned, Nelson’s Dockyard. Archbishop de Wit Guzmán will conclude his visit with the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Holy Family Cathedral on Sunday 17th November at 9:00 a.m.

Archbishop de Wit Guzmán was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Apostolic Nuncio for the Antilles Episcopal Conference on 30th July 2022 by Pope Francis. He was born in Valencia, Spain, and was ordained a priest in Valencia on May 27, 1989. He has had a long and distinguished record of service in the Catholic Church, including his appointment as the Titular Archbishop of Gabala, Apostolic Nuncio to Central African Republic, Apostolic Nuncio to Chad, Apostolic Nuncio to Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Grenada, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, Tortola and Virgin Gorda (BVI), Montserrat, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia, as well as Apostolic Delegate to the Antilles.
