Newly ordained Bishop of Roseau, Most Reverend Kendrick Forbes has extended congratulations to Thea Lafond and the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica after the athlete secured the country’s first Olympic gold medal during the staging of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. Lafond, who participated in the triple jump event, leaped to gold ahead of Shanieka Ricketts of Jamaica and Jasmine Moore of the United States.
In his congratulatory message Bishop Kendrick described the achievement as a “milestone in her career…[and a] very significant for the Commonwealth of Dominica and in particular the Diocese of Roseau.” See the full release below…
