Chancery

The current Diocesan Catholic Chancery building represents an upgrade to the previous historic edifice located on Church Street in the capital city of St. John’s.

The chancery is now located in Langfords on Friars Hill Road and offers greater convenience than its predecessor. The upstairs portion of the building also serves as the Bishop’s residence.

Holy Family Cathedral

The cathedral is considered the mother church a diocese. It is the church where the bishop’s chair, or cathedra, sits. Diocesan liturgies are celebrated here, including ordinations of bishops and priests, and the annual Chrism Mass among other celebrations. While the cathedral is the bishop’s home church, it has a rector who acts as pastor to the local congregation.
