Sealed by the Spirit: 16 Youth Embrace Their Faith in Confirmation

Sixteen young people were confirmed on May 31, 2026, at Holy Family Cathedral by His Lordship, Bishop Robert Llanos, in a joyful celebration of faith and commitment.

In his homily, Bishop Llanos reminded the confirmands that, although they received the gift of salvation in baptism, their confirmation was a personal choice to accept that gift in the present moment. He cautioned that mere head knowledge of Christ is not enough; what matters is a real, lasting interior relationship with Jesus so that they may truly live as God’s light in the world. The Bishop urged the young people to fully embrace the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and to allow the fruits of the Spirit to be evident in every area of their lives.

Catechetical Coordinator Morvette Thomas encouraged sponsors and parents to walk alongside the young people, to model faithful Christian living, and to support them in becoming active members of parish life. She emphasized the importance of involving the confirmands in parish ministries so that they can be a genuine witness to the light of Christ.

The candidates were lovingly supported in their preparation by catechists Jessica Beaupierre and Shawnelle Walsh. The diocesan community rejoices with the newly confirmed and pledges continued prayer and support as they live out their baptismal call strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
